Thomas Mosier
Department Manager, Decision Sciences,
Idaho National Laboratory
Thomas Mosier leads Idaho National Laboratory's Decision Sciences department, which develops new methods and analytical capabilities that (1) improve understanding of resource and technology options, and tradeoffs among them, (2) address critical gaps in insight to improve decision making, enabling explicit consideration of important factors, (3) accelerate adoption of new technologies through gathering and distilling information imperative to scale-up and deployment.
Thomas broadly focuses on supporting an orderly clean energy transition and ensuring the transition benefits all of society. As examples, he supports public utilities to navigate decarbonization, identifies and analyzes pathways to significantly reduce the cost of long duration energy storage technologies, and advances the use of hybrid generation and storage systems to enhance market participation of the generation while also increasing local grid resilience.
