Shannon Mikula
Shannon Mikula is a graduate of Colorado State University (B.S. Natural Resource Management) and received a Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 2013. She joined Minnkota Power Cooperative in 2018. Mikula holds two roles at Minnkota –Project Counsel and Environmental Manager.
As a part of her guidance of Project Tundra, the cooperative’s bold carbon capture and storage initiative at its coal-based power plant near Bismarck, N.D., Mikula led the development of the largest geologic carbon dioxide storage facility permit application in the United States to date.Her experience in a dual role, as Project Counsel and Environmental Manager, provided Minnkota with a unique perspective as she coordinated the efforts of Minnkota’s internal environmental department staff and external technical and legal resources through the onslaught of EPA rulemaking. She currently serves as the internal lead for litigation arising from the EPA rulemaking and supports the compliance planning process.
Prior to joining Minnkota, Mikula was a shareholder at Camrud, Maddock, Olson & Larson, and later served in the role of Academic Affairs Officer at the University of North Dakota, in the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
