Challenges and Best Practices in New Generation Development

Feb 12, 2025 |  3:00 PM - 3:45 PM |  C141

There is an increasing need for new generation, but developing new generation in today’s market is dramatically different than what it was five years ago. Interconnection delays, lengthy equipment lead times, permitting and construction labor shortages are significantly influencing development and execution timelines.

Are you planning far enough in advance? This presentation will discuss the common challenges we are seeing in the market with developing new generation and offer a recommended approach. It will touch on technology evaluation, site selection and project planning/scheduling.

“Taxes are Hard!” – Meeting Prevailing Wage and Apprenticeship Requirements Under the IRA

Feb 11, 2025 |  3:00 PM - 3:45 PM |  C143

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) provides increased credit or deduction amounts for taxpayers who satisfy certain prevailing wage and apprenticeship (PWA) requirements for the construction, alteration or repair of qualified renewable energy projects. However, these requirements are often confusing, with electric utilities, contractors, and engineers struggling to keep up with guidance from Treasury and the IRS.

Hear from a panel of industry experts who are currently attempting to navigate these requirements and hear about the strategies they are employing to reduce the impact of compliance on project cost and schedule. Panelists will share varying approaches to meet rigorous recordkeeping and documentation needs.
